Hey y’all 🙂 It’s been a while, but here’s an OOTD post for all my fashion forward divas out there. So let’s get ready to #WERK, ladies! As a bonus, since I haven’t done an outfit post since January, this post has two outfits.
(There’s so much good stuff in Hamilton- it just applies to so many facets of my life, y’all.)
This outfit is from a recent lunch date I took with Mr. Alexander. With two young kids, it much easier for us to get in that quality couple time while the younglings are in school, so we’ve taken to daytime dates. That lends itself to a more casual look, in terms of makeup and outfit choice. Take a look at this comfy and cute ensemble.
Of course this is a look for the warmer weather, which is just beginning in my area. The sheer tank and camisole are from Torrid, the super skinny black jeans are from Old Navy, the shoes and bag are from ShoeDazzle. I love the ikat print on the shoes, I think it makes a nice compliment to a standard black and white outfit. Also, they have a block style kitten heel, about 1.5 inches, so the shoes are very comfortable and easy to walk in, even for the clumsy and “weak of ankle” like me 😉
This look is another option for a casual date. Generally we go light on top and bold on the bottom. I’ve flipped that trend by pairing a rich teal tunic (from Torrid) with a pair of white straight leg jeans (from Old Navy). The bag is from ShoeDazzle, and the beige wedges are by Merona from Target. I’ve found that the wedge style allows me to wear a higher heel without putting as much stress on my ankles and the balls of my feet, which is my problem with high heels in general.
If the weather is chillier, or you’re inside in some arctic level air conditioning, you can easily throw on a cardigan to cover your arms, allowing more flexibility with the look. I think it would also pair well with a leather jacket, in either black or white.
(BTW, the shades are from Walmart! Grabbed them last summer while at Disney World from the store in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. They were about $15 and fit over my glasses.)
With both looks, you’ll notice I kept my makeup basic, light and natural. That fits the time of day, but if you want to go a little bolder, you can always jazz it up with a bright or intense shade of lipstick or nail polish. I also kept my jewelry on the less blingy side, which I think reflects the casual nature of the outfits.
So, what do you think? What are some of your favorite pairings for a casual lunch date? Don’t be shy, drop me some suggestions in the comments section.
Because writing is what I do, y’all.
